In the beginning of May, I had the opportunity to attend the 2026 edition of BioMonWeek in Montpellier, France, bringing together researchers, research infrastructures, and policy-oriented initiatives working on biodiversity monitoring across Europe and beyond.

Last week, I had the privilege of serving as a mentor 👨‍💻 at the “Beyond Dead Wood” hackathon, organized by Ultrahack in Helsinki, Finland 🇫🇮. I embarked on this journey with a simple goal: to immerse myself in an innovative environment where bright minds leverage environmental data 🌲 📊 in transformative ways.

Yesterday I visited the Hyytiälä Forestry Field Station, and I would like to share my experience in this blog post. Hyytiälä Forestry Field Station, located in Finland and operated by the University of Helsinki, has been a crucial hub for research since the 1910s.

As a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Helsinki, I was thrilled to attend the eLTER RI annual meeting in Frankfurt. It was my first time participating in such a meeting, and I found it to be a great opportunity to learn more about eLTER and to connect with colleagues from across Europe who are working on environmental causes.

Last week, I had the privilege of attending the eLTER tools workshop in Lyon, France 🇫🇷. The workshop was an excellent opportunity to learn about the latest tools and techniques for working with environmental data in eLTER stations 📊🌱.

I am thrilled to announce that I have recently accepted a position as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Helsinki in Finland 🇫🇮. I will be working on two groundbreaking projects: BioDT and eLTER 🔬🌍.

A new chapter Starting my post-graduation course in Data Stewardship applied to Scientific data at the University of Vienna marked a new chapter in my academic career. Last week’s lectures were immensely informative and stimulating, and the professors and classmates welcomed me with open arms to what promises to be a challenging but rewarding learning experience.

I recently had the opportunity to participate in a training course on Ecological Modelling of Marine Connectivity. The course was a COST Action and it was held at the University of Montpellier, France.

I decided to build an academic website for a few reasons. First, I wanted to start to have an online presence. Going to conferences made me realize that many researchers nowadays have a strong online presence, with active use of social media and their own academic websites.
