ππ± My Experience at the eLTER RI Annual Meeting in Frankfurt πΏπ
As a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Helsinki, I was thrilled to attend the eLTER RI annual meeting in Frankfurt. It was my first time participating in such a meeting, and I found it to be a great opportunity to learn more about eLTER and to connect with colleagues from across Europe who are working on environmental causes.
One aspect of the meeting that I found particularly informative was the discussion around data services. We discussed the challenges associated with integrating data from different eLTER sites, particularly legacy data, which is often heterogeneous and poorly documented. However, there were potential solutions proposed, such as data standardization using proper vocabularies and ontologies.
I was also excited to be part of the EC&F (early career and friends) group, where I had the chance to meet colleagues with diverse backgrounds who are all working hard on environmental issues. We discussed joint interests in the scope of eLTER and how to foster collaboration, get training and mentoring from senior peers.
Overall, I see my participation in the EC&F group and the eLTER RI annual meeting as a great opportunity to expand my network of collaborators and to be involved in pan-European initiatives on environmental science. The meeting was a wonderful experience that allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of eLTER and to connect with colleagues who share a passion for environmental causes.
